The mysterious workings
of Fate and the Muses had a hand in bringing Rachel Macias and John Nicholas
together. Born and raised on opposite coasts they were brought together through
music in Santa Barbara, California. They were married in 1979 and wherever
their path together has taken them – from California to New York City to New
England – music and their love for each other has been a constant in their
lives.
While living in southeastern Massachusetts in the late 1980’s they began focusing on the intimacy of an acoustic sound which they have pursued with a steady passion. Originating as a trio with pianist Chris LoCascio, they called themselves 'dreamwork' and began performing at many of the region’s coffeehouses.
They have shared the stage with Chris Smither, Barbara Kessler, Les Sampou, Mary Gauthier, Aztec Two Step, Paul Sullivan of the Paul Winter Consort, Ronnie Gilbert, Rod MacDonald and many others.
Their lyrical songs are an eclectic brew highlighted by soulful singing and harmonies that attain a magical alchemy. On stage there is a synergy between them that is palpable. With their voices, they create an intimate atmosphere where the exquisite beauty of life in all its contradictions is felt through the medium of song.
